Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in especial - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with long-term coach Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's first championship following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from March of the previous year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had caused commentators to wonder if his ability to play at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional championship, took control to create a final set.

Moutet rescued four early chances in a close deciding set before the champion secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, he secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
